About The Emerald Grove

It has been a long term dream of mine to be able to open a shop showcasing and selling not only my work, but the work of talented people locally and elsewhere in this country.
Having spent years making jewellery myself and trying to sell in shops, I was horrified by the horrendous commission placed on items by the shop, thus the item is either grossly overpriced, or the artist has to supply the item to the shop for next to nothing!! This was something that I endeavoured never to do!
I am committed to keeping shop commission prices low, ensuring the artists and craftspeople get the money they deserve for their labour intensive work.

It is also a very important policy of mine to reduce the carbon footprint and keep things "green" - hence the "emerald" in the shop's title.
Keeping things green, is the reason why nothing sold in the shop is imported - that and the fact that there are so many talented people in this country there is no need to look elsewhere for quality items.

More and more people are getting fed up with imported goods and third world sweatshops producing items in the shops. Furthermore, people want to have different things. Everything else is mass-produced! It's boring!!!

My previous life involved travelling all over the country as a web and graphic design consultant, and all the time I was doing that I was yearning for something that suited me on a creative and spiritual level. Now I have found it.

The Emerald Grove is not meant to be a gift shop, nor is it meant to be a gallery. It is meant to be a treasure trove of all things unique, quirky, different and handmade - with emphasis on the spiritual, nature and recycling.

My long term aim is to generate a community within the shop - not only showcasing and selling unique items, but promoting other local businesses, music and events. Having on-site complementary therapies is only the start!
"An enchanted grove of beautiful items, resources and events!"
